One of Wise County’s Congressional Representatives Welcomes the People

Congresswoman Kay Granger, representing significant portions of Tarrant and Wise Counties as U.S. Texas Congressional District #12, met Monday, May 8, 2017 5:30 – 7:30 PM for a served meal and occasion for citizens to speak personally with her. This is an annual benefit provided by Congresswoman Granger for many years at Fort Worth’s famed Joe T. Garcia’s well liked Mexican Cuisine restaurant.  

An estimated 300 people from the District #12 constituency gathered for fellowship with neighbors, a good-tasting Mexican meal and hearing from their Representative in Congress about the state of the work before the current Congress. We particularly heard about her work as a member of the Appropriations Committee (All Congressional discretional spending), as well as her role as Chairwoman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.  

The State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee has involved her travel to over 80 foreign nations, representing the United States Government.  

She also has assignments serving on the Energy & Water Appropriations Subcommittee and the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. 

The other Congressional Representative whose District covers the other parts of Wise County is Congressman Mac Thornberry.  

Wise County was represented by elected officials County Judge J. D. Clark, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin, Justice of the Peace Craig Johnson, and Wise County Commissioner Kevin Burns. Wise County Republican Party Vice Chairman Eric Marney, along with Brian & Paula Fair, Bettye Parker, Shannon Marney, Kay Akin, Shannon Martin, Carolyn Moody, Leah Clark, Todd & Darla Bailey, Gina Burns and D. A. & Suzanne Sharpe.
